I did another Akashic Reading with Ananda last week and she channeled something that was so healing for me… she said:

“You spent your entire childhood trying to balance the energies of those around you (read: my mom) just to exist peacefully.”

And even now as i type this, it brings me to tears, because i see how i do that all around me. I see conflict and turmoil in the world and i just feel this pull to fix it, it lights something up inside me- i need to make everything harmonious and perfect so that i can feel okay and know that everything is fine and relax.

That comes from my childhood.

A lot of people that took the time to take the chakra test and answer my questions on their perspective of the world had very unbalanced root chakras. While i haven’t formally analyzed the data yet, my theory is that the more underactive your root chakra is, the more empathy you have for others to an almost extreme degree.

I don’t ever like anything to be less than perfect because in my childhood i wasn’t allowed to rest if things were less than perfect… and I never even realized that there was literally NOTHING i could do.

I could clean the house only to get screamed at, objects thrown at me or hit because i misplaced a single paper. I could bring home straight A’s and if it wasn’t an A+, there was not just not a “good job” there was anger and disregard.

The root chakra governs the energy of security, safety, and stability. Oftentimes an imbalanced root chakra can mean inflammatory or autoimmune conditions, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, extraordinary drain and fatigue, lack of connection with others, constantly feeling like you have to fight to defend yourself, and being unsure of your decisions as a result of inner battle.

A healthy root chakra?

A confidence in our ability to thrive in this world, independence, determination, holding space and acceptance for your family, healthy boundaries, a strong sense of purpose, and you believe at your core that you have a right to exist.

Words like commitment, purpose, patience, consistency and security describe those with a balanced root chakra.

It takes a lot to heal from childhood wounds. But there are a lot of things you can do to support the better movement of energy within this chakra.

Special yoga poses, certain foods, meditations, affirmations, and healing your inner child are just some of them.

The biggest thing that i want you to understand, though, is that you are not responsible for correcting every injustice in the world. We can be passionate advocates for change without allowing it to disturb our inner peace. This aggressive need that you have to heal everyone around you, clean up the trash of the world, and right every wrong is noble and why you’re here and a HUGE part of why you experienced life the way you have. But when you heal your own wounds and right your own wrongs and allow yourself to believe that you’re perfectly enough just the way you are, you’re more empowered to lead by example and effect change without pushing it.

I pushed against things to make change for years, and I’ll never stop- it’s not in my nature. But finding grounding within myself has allowed my voice to project way farther in the last 2 years than it ever has and impact the lives of so many more people in very deep and extraordinary ways.

You were gifted empathy because you have the power to change the world. Just find the power to allow yourself to feel peace first.

Self care is the key to caring adequately for those around you.

I’ve been working hard for quite some on understanding and healing my root chakra. If you want some insight, feel free to reach out.
